Training and awareness-raising activities targeting more than 20 students
The Project has achieved its targets in the field of developing students’ educational, social and cognitive skills.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler and Chairman of the Executive Council, and in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Majid bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Suburbs Affairs and Villages in the Emirate of Sharjah, the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties closed today, Thursday, the activities of the fourth edition of the “Discovery Project,” which was organized by SCLD this year, under the slogan (Discovery, Challenge, and Development). For 11 days, the Project has delivered a program full of activities, training workshops, and educational and interactive lectures, with the participation of more than 20 students, achieving remarkable success at the level of supporting people with learning difficulties, and developing their educational, social and cognitive skills.
The activities of the Project, winner of Khalifa Award for Education Award in its 13th edition, focused on a number of training and educational themes presented by a group of experts and specialists from the Center and US Beacon College, of which the most prominent were the workshops of “Basics of Learning and Self-exploration,” “Thinking Keys,” and “Basics of World Wide Web Design,” the course of “Arabic Calligraphy and Decoration,” and the workshops of “Solar Energy Car Installation.” In addition, a number of workshops targeting parents were organized, including the workshops “Role of Projects and External Activities in Developing the Student Transitional Skills,” and “Role of Parents in Supporting Students with Learning Difficulties in Transitional Stages,” as well as a group of activities and recreational, sports and health activities that were organized in a number of tourist areas in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Continuous success
Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, SCLD Director, expressed her happiness with the continuous success achieved by the annual Discovery Project, by providing a wide area for the students with learning difficulties to engage in the organized qualitative activities, providing the opportunity for the participants to develop their skills and capabilities; especially since the Project this year was distinguished by the comprehensiveness and diversity of its activities and programs, through which SCLD was keen to achieve optimal utilization of the potentials of this group, and enhance societal awareness of learning difficulties, develop cognitive and scientific capabilities for these students and enhance their confidence in themselves.
Dr. Hanadi thanked all the supporters of the Project, representatives of the General Command of Sharjah Police, the Commercial and Tourism Development Authority in Sharjah, the Sharjah Academy of Education, the Sharjah Center for Arabic Calligraphy and Decoration, the event sponsors, the strategic partners of the event are representatives of the Sharjah Education Council, the Sharjah Special Education Authority, along with Media sponsorship of the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, and the great support provided by a number of private authorities. She praised the distinguished efforts they made to make the Project successful, noting that this broad cooperation in the Project comes within the framework of SCLD’s keenness to enhance coordination and joint work with various governmental and private agencies, with the aim of supporting people with learning difficulties and helping them achieve their aspirations and introduce their needs to the community.
At the end of the Project, SCLD presented certificates approved by the US Beacon College to the participating students who, with their parents, praised the importance of the Project and expressed their keenness to participate in its annual editions, because its activities enhance their capabilities and contribute to the development of their knowledge and expertise.
